Daunte Culpepper would bring name recognition to a still media-starved league. But who believes rumors, anyway?
There is a quality article today from the Sacramento Bee updating the Sacramento franchise. And there is a UFL draft date included, as well.
The California Redwoods are decamping from San Francisco and heading to Sacramento according to published reports from the Sacramento Bee. Last fall Paul Pelosi, and others, openly speculated about moving the Redwoods to either San Jose or Sacramento. Today the Bee seems to have proof that Sacramento is the final choice, although no announcements have been made yet.
The week of the Championship Game has arrived and UFLAccess.com will have all of the coverage that UFL fans can handle. I will be posting a daily blog beginning in Tuesday live from Las Vegas, tomorrow night we will have a special Championship Game edition of “Inside the UFL” at 8 PM EST with a round table preview of the game, and on Wednesday we will be livetweeting the United Football League’s first ever Media Day at http://www.twitter.com/UFLAccess. Following the conclusion of the California Redwoods “Premiere Season” it appears that they are heading to San Jose for their full time home. This was a move that many had expected considering the expense of the San Francisco market, the limited availability of AT&T Park during baseball season, and the presence of the San Francisco 49′ers. Commissioner Michael Huyghue confirmed that San Jose was going to host the Redwoods following one of, if not the, most entertaining game of the United Football League season.
The Redwoods had a chance to make tonight’s game on VERSUS (9 PM PST) matter and they fell short. With their defeat at the hand of the Las Vegas Locos last week the Redwoods ended their shot at the Championship Game but few expect the team to roll over for the Florida Tuskers. The Tuskers are in pursuit of perfection and if the Redwoods were to spoil their chance at 7-0 then they would earn themselves some positive buzz ending into the offseason.
The Championship Game is set. The home town Las Vegas Locos will host the Florida Tuskers at Sam Boyd Stadium on Black Friday. Before the Locos pulled out the win, the Redwoods looked like they were going to pull out the upset. The home town Redwoods dominated defensively and Cory Ross was running wild until a pair of referee calls and sharper play by the Locos offense led to a narrow victory for Jim Fassel’s squad.
On Saturday night at 9 PM EST/6 PM local the Las Vegas Locos will take on the California Redwoods in what might be the biggest regular season game in the (short) history of the United Football League. The game will take place on the campus of San Jose State, a recently added venue. If the Locos win then they have locked up a bid to their home town Championship Game, while the Redwoods can continue to control their own destiny with a win of their own.
