Examiner: Locos face Redwoods in pivotal UFL game

The stage is set for the biggest regular season game in the short history of the United Football League as the second spot in the UFL’s championship game might be determined on Saturday night when the 2-2 Redwoods host the 2-2 Locos.

The Morning After: DeDe for MVP

DeDe Dorsey had the Las Vegas Locos within three points of beating the Florida Tuskers. He was simply incredible on Friday evening. He averaged 11.6 yards per carry, racking up 139 yards on the ground. He was also the leading receiver for the Locos with 5 receptions for 25 yards. Quite simply, he was the best player on the field.

After the game Jim Fassel said of Dorsey, “He is so explosive and just really, really good. Marcus Shipp is great, and at first we really used DeDe to keep Marcus fresh. We will keep using him (DeDe) more and more.”

California Redwoods defeat the New York Sentinels 20-13

The California Redwoods kept themselves in contention for a spot in the Championship Game this evening with their 20-13 victory over the New York Sentinels. The New York Sentinels were welcomed in their first home game by a crowd of 10,318 at Giants Stadium. The Redwoods moved to 2-2 on the season, while the Sentinels fell to 0-3.

UFLA Preview: Sentinels Open at Home

The New York Sentinels, fresh off of a bye week, open at home tonight. The game will be held in Giants Stadium and will go up against the World Series – not an optimal scheduling match up to be sure. The team will be looking for their first victory as well.

Coach Cottrell seemed optimistic about his team moving forward in a media conference this week where he told the press, “I think we are starting to blend well. We are 0-2, but it’s a good brand of football and they are playing hard, these guys get after it. [...]

The Morning After: Can the Tuskers be Stopped?

Game five and week three of the United Football League has hit the record books and one thing remains clear…

The Florida Tuskers are the dominant team. Period.

Their 34 to 7 victory over the California Redwoods was another reminder that they have thus far been the team to beat and that doesn’t look to change any time soon. Brooks Bollinger threw for 224 yards, 133 of those to Taye Biddle. Tim McGarigle racked up 7.5 tackles with 1 interception to lead the defense.

By DUSTY SLOAN

The chasm between the Florida Tuskers and the remainder of the United Football League continues to grow. With the Tuskers’ 34-7 home win over the California Redwoods in the UFL’s lone Week 3 game, Florida now is 3-0, is the only team above the .500 mark and is the only team in [...]

Florida Tuskers Run Wild Over Redwoods

ORLANDO, Fla. (October 23, 2009) – The Florida Tuskers continued their dominance of the United Football League with a decisive 34-7 victory over the California Redwoods tonight before a crowd of 12,021 at the Florida Citrus Bowl. The Tuskers moved to 3-0 on the season, while the Redwoods fell to 1-2.

As with Florida’s season opener earlier this month, the UFL’s most explosive offense started slowly this Saturday night. Defense dominated early in the game as neither team scored in the first quarter. Tuskers quarterback Brooks Bollinger didn’t have an answer for California’s aggressive pass rush, while the Florida defense held the UFL’s leading rusher Redwoods’ Cory Ross in check.
