Tonight we spoke with Shane Boyd, Quarterback for the California Redwoods, about the arrival of United Football League camp. When Shane picked up the phone he told us that he was at Larry Fitzgerald’s house watching the first NFL game, ironically four weeks to the night that he will be playing in the first ever UFL game.

At a press conference today, United Football League Commissioner Michael Huyghue announced the California franchise will be named the Redwoods and unveiled innovative team uniforms showcasing the Redwoods’ “Premiere” season colors of green, blue and white.
The league (and we) had said all along that at least one of the initial team names trademarked would change when the names were officially unveiled. Other fan sites went on and on saying that all four names were for certain. In a last minute trademark filing the San Francisco franchise has another trademarked possibility: San Francisco Redwoods.
The United Football League, two years in the making, finally has tickets on sale. The best news? These are “early” tickets so you will receive $5 off. Tickets range from $10 to $45 for the regular season – before discount. This “early” sale will only last from August 7 until August 11 with ticket sales officially beginning on August 12.
