Former 1st Round Quarterback J.P. Losman Rumored to be Heading to Las Vegas

Rumors have heated up regarding player movement to the United Football League in recent days. Sunday former NFL QB Tim Rattay said he would be headed to the league, Ken Dorsey said he’d love the opportunity, and rumors have spread that Michael Vick and his agent have papers in hand that if signed would start the Vick redemption tour in Orlando. All of these whispers, some of which are based in fact, have begun spreading in the wake of two public workouts and ahead of a private, internal UFL draft that is scheduled for later this week.

Now word has spread that J.P. Losman, formerly of the Buffalo Bills and the NFL 1st Round, is scheduled to sign with the Las Vegas team headed by Jim Fassel. The rumors began swirling this morning and UFLAccess.com tried to track down the facts. One well-placed source pointed out that roster spots have dried up on virtually every NFL depth chart at QB. The league declined comment with their spokesperson saying that “as of yet no ink has hit paper.”

Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange has now reported that Losman to Vegas is nearing completion, which jibes with what we here at UFL Access are hearing as well at this point. Losman brings an erratic NFL body of work to the league with career passing yards in excess of 6,000 yards and 33 NFL touchdowns.  While he never completely lived up to his billing, Losman did show flashes of brilliance including several 4th quarter comebacks. The UFL could be the right engine to restart his once promising career. Being paired with Jim Fassel in Las Vegas, if the rumors prove true, could be a great thing for both coach and quarterback.
