I have mad respect for Coach Jags who has got a REALLY, REALLy bum rap at Boston College. I think we have a very accomplished staff.

However, what the hell was with our draft? Did we even contact any of these guys?

Frank Walker, Shawn Andrews, and Devard Darling have all basically said hell no.

None of those players have been approached by NFL teams though. Give it a few months and we'll see what happens.

Omaha was also rushed to put together their initial 40 guys, create a local office, lease the stadium, name the team, design a logo, hire employees, hire coaches, and put together a draft in 2 months.

I hope we get some of those players, but I won't get too upset over a very rushed draft.

It contact wasnt made prior to the draft, it was a huge mistake.

Walker I could care less about, and Andrews (being a first round pick) I can understand, but D2 really should know better.

Who's really looking to sign a guy with 37 career grabs coming off an ACL tear? If you're an ex-first rounder, yeah.

I wish he'd said hell no to whoever gave him the idea he'd be a first round pick (and stayed for his senior year)! Little late there.................

Even during the draft it appeared obvious that Omaha was drafting the big name guys. It really looked like they just went to nfl.com and went off the unrestricted free agent list.

It seems like the other four teams were on one page and Omaha was on the other.......I'm not totally sure what the regulations are on spending (isn't every player excluding quarterbacks getting approximately $50k?) but it seems to me like Omaha thought they could either spend more money on their draft selections or they purposely were only helping for a hail mary.

It just seems poor sighted, a name does not necessarily mean these guys are going to be better than some unknown. There are dozens of players who are just outside the NFL bubble with NFL experience.

Why did we go random and not find the ones who would actually be willing to participate (i.e. Ahman Green)?

Yes, perhaps these guys will be more willing to sign if they are not on a NFL roster for the first week of the regular season......but someone is probably going to sign a majority of them to NFL minimum deals for training camp, which means they won't have time to come in and learn the offense by our day 1.

Sometimes, when you swing for the fences, you just strike out.

Again, if these guys are holding out for the NFL, then they may come around once the NFL doesn't call.

I'll be curious to see how many ex-Boston College, Green Bay Packer, and Denver Broncos we bring in compare to ex-Huskers.

In D2's case, he's currently tearing it up in my XFL sim, maybe he's reading his press clippings:D

It's just a matter of callin dibs in case they decide to play, it's not that big of a deal.

I just got some clarification. The UFL doesn't contact any player who is under contract by the NFL, because they are the NFL's property.

The UFL can reach out to unrestricted free agents, however they usually don't. It happens the other way around. I believe there are something like 55 people answering incoming calls from all the agents trying to get their players a job at the league offices. The players are gesturing for an NFL job first and foremost. Publicly many of them will say they're not interested in the UFL, but that doesn't mean their agents haven't already reached out to the UFL.

I guess we'll find out once the fall comes closer, but as of right now I'm finding it pretty questionable decision making.

Again, no team contacts the players ahead of time because they can't. But players aren't going to show up on the UFL radar to get drafted unless their agent contacts the league.

Does not seem to be the case with Mr. Walker, Mr. Andrews, and Mr. Williams.

The Nighthawks staff must have just had some insider information the rest of the league didn't have.

The Nighthawks staff must have just had some insider information the rest of the league didn't have.

The Big East teams said they had no interest in going to the ACC 3 days before they went to the ACC. Nick Saban said he'd never go to Alabama right before he went to Alabama.

3 players say their are committed to the NFL, and I'm sure that is true. That doesn't mean they won't play for the UFL when they don't get invited to NFL camps, or make an opening day roster for the NFL.

We've already seen examples of players using the UFL to get back into the NFL. Right now it is just posturing.

I think there is way to much thought put into this. All these list don't mean much in the end anyways. All it means is your team gets first dibs.

I wouldn't try and compare how many ex Boston College players to ex Husker, Broncos, Chiefs players either. You want the right player for the system. You can be the best player in the UFL but won't do much if your strengths aren't being utilized. They could come from Europe for all I care as long as they fit what we are doing

I listed BC, Green Bay, and Denver because our coaching staff has strong connections to these teams.

It's fun to speculate.
