Instant Analysis: The Hartford Colonials

The Hartford Colonials are off to a very good start.

The transplanted New York Sentinels are in a market which has fallen in love with a team that hasn’t played a game in 2010, and, now, the franchise has a name which makes all the sense in the world.

Using the nickname “Colonials” is perfect. It is a name that every red-blooded Hartford and Connecticut resident should rally around, and, if it is branded correctly, could become the best-branded United Football League team to date.

Now, if the Colonials can get the taste of the Sentinels’ 0-6 2009 season out of their collective mouth, they will have a completely successful transformation.

  4. Can’t we have our OWN identity?? The first thing I thought of was the Patriots. I hope the logo is not a colonial soldier.
