While United Football League fans are waiting for the official start of the 2010 player acquisition period, there is little to do but speculate.
And, oh what fun it is to speculate!
Today, let’s look at who could be headed to Hartford to play quarterback for head coach/general manager Chris Palmer.
This list strictly is limited to quarterbacks who have been on rosters of teams Palmer has coached on.
Drew Bledsoe - Not unless Palmer wants a 38-year-old statue who hasn’t played in four years.
Jared Lorenzen - “The Hefty Lefty” played last year for the Kentucky Horsemen in arenafootball2, but apparently is available after af2 dissolved. At 29, Lorenzen still would have a shot to play a few more professional seasons, and might want another shot to prove he belongs in the NFL, where he hasn’t been since 2008 in training camp with the Indianapolis Colts.
Anthony Wright - According to Wikipedia, Wright retired following the 2008 season. At 34, it’s debatable whether Wright still has the fire to play, or could get it back in order to play in Hartford. Wright is a grizzled veteran who started seven games in the National Football League as early as 2005.
And, if you want to go back from 1999 to 2005, you get to “you’ve got to be kidding me” names like Tony Banks, Tim Couch, Ty Detmer, Jamie Martin, Doug Pederson, Dave Ragone, Kevin Thompson and Spergeon Wynn.
The bottom line is this – Hartford would be MUCH better off going a different direction to find its starting quarterback for 2010.

Tim Couch might give it another shot.
Couch is the only one I can take seriously, if Quinn Gray is still on the roster I say Palmer should still give him a shot.
