The United Football League had a banner day today, formally announcing their first head coach and the site of the first ever UFL game on October 8, 2009. It has long been said that start up leagues have two chances to make a good impression. The first being the day of their announcement, the second being the inaugural game. From every indication the first day should leave a positive impression on football fans.

The United Football League today announced that Dennis Green, Jim Fassel, Jim Haslett, and Ted Cottrell will comprise the inaugural slate of coaches for the “Premiere Season”. The UFL San Francisco team will also be hosted at AT&T Park. The league is holding a media call at 3 PM.

UFLAccess contributor Fran Stuchbury reports this afternoon that Jim Fassel will be the first Coach of the Las Vegas entry into the United Football League. The news comes from what Stuchbury deems a reliable source and comes several weeks after Sports Illustrated’s Peter King reported that Fassel was a likely choice for the UFL.
