UFL’s Losman Agrees to Raiders Deal

Losman to RaidersShortly ago, Mike Florio of Profootballtalk reported that J.P. Losman had agreed to sign with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders, with Losman visiting Oakland today for a physical. PFT was told that Losman’s stint with the United Football League’s Las Vegas Locomotives under the direction of coach Jim Fassel was the impetus behind Oakland’s move. Locos’ Shaun Smith Signs With Bengals

Shaun Smith, UFL, Cincinnati BengalsShaun Smith is finding new life in the National Football League thanks to the Cincinnati Bengals, after a successful stint with the United Football League’s Las Vegas Locomotives. Smith, a 6-foot-2, 325-pound defensive tackle, is well-acclimated with the Bengals, having played a total of 29 games (six starts) with the squad from 2004-06 before moving on for stints with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions before making his way to the UFL. Smith, known for his on-field comments and brash demeanor, was originally picked up by the Dallas Cowboys in 2003 after he came out of South Carolina. His first professional start was in 2004 with the San Francisco 49ers, when he recorded 16 tackles. (Image, left, property of the NFL.)

DeDe Dorsey Earns Workout With Rams

After failing to be signed last week following a work out with the Cleveland Browns, another struggling NFL team has taken a close look at DeDe Dorsey. Dorsey worked out for the St. Louis Rams today, calling the experience “phenomenal”. The Rams are a one-win team in desperate need of a spark – any kind of spark.

UFL’s Gano Signed by Redskins

In a continuance of woes for Washington this football season, the Redskins relinquished a 4th quarter lead to the undefeated New Orleans Saints and failed to find the uprights behind the foot of kicker Shaun Suisham near the end of regulation on a 23 yard attempt – a failure that spawned a Drew Brees-led 80 yard touchdown drive that forced OT and an eventual Saints victory. Looking to make some changes, Suisham was cut today by Washington and Graham Gano of recent United Football League fame has stepped into his shoes.

Las Vegas Sun: Locos Win Inaugural UFL Championship

Not only did Trufant play, but he also made the biggest play in the league’s short history. Trufant intercepted a pass in overtime to set up a game-winning field goal as the Las Vegas Locomotives beat the Florida Tuskers 20-17 in front of 14,801 fans at Sam Boyd Stadium.

UFL CHAMPIONS – LAS VEGAS LOCOMOTIVES. A recap of the 2nd half of the Premiere Season UFL Championship Game, which resulted in an Overtime win by the underdog Las Vegas Locomotives over the undefeated Florida Tuskers. The Locomotives end the season at 5-2, while the Tuskers end at 6-1.
