UFL PR: Omaha Nighthawks Sign Jeff Garcia

The Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League today announced the signing of quarterback JEFF GARCIA. The UFL expansion team welcomes the former San Francisco 49ers star and four-time Pro Bowl selection to Omaha as head coach JEFF JAGODZINSKI prepares to open training camp this week.

D.J. Shockley Confirmed for Mini-Camp

As UFL Access expected following the radio chat with Omaha Nighthawks GM Rick Mueller, D.J. Shockley will be joining Omaha at their mini-camp.

In an interview with 1620 The Zone just after six this evening, Omaha Nighthawks GM Rick Mueller let slip Jeff Garcia as a potential QB for the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks when rattling off a list of QBs. Also expected is D.J. Shockley.

The organization of the United Football League’s “Premiere Season” is such that it is unwise to grade the league on many of the normal parameters of the success or failure of a sports venture. The “Premiere Season” launched with little fanfare and with little media backing as part of an overall plan for this season to be the marketing for the league moving forward, meaning the success or failure of the opening season was meant to be graded different internally then many outside prognosticators would guess.

Dispatches from Camp: United Football League GM Rick Mueller

The United Football League opened camp in Orlando, Florida and Casa Grande, Arizona today. The first official practice today was the New York Sentinels at 8:30 AM at the Citrus Bowl. This followed team meetings yesterday as the league and the coaching staffs work overtime to get the players ready to play come October 8.

Adam Archuleta and Marcel Shipp Signed as Locos

According to an interview with Rick Mueller, United Football League Vice President and General Manager, Adam Archuleta and Marcel Shipp are now officially Locs. The comments came on the Rock and Manuch Show last Wednesday. Shipp is the best running back linked to the Locos to date. In his NFL career he rushed for over 2,200 yards, leading the Arizona Cardinals in rushing twice. (Click above for more.)
