BREAKING: UFL Suspending Training Camps? (Update: CONFIRMED)

Rumblings from those in the know are indicating that UFL players are being informed that training camp has been suspended for thirty days. If this decision holds up, it will serve as a major blow to the UFL as they attempt to get their footing for the 2011 season.

Workman’s compensation insurance as well as other financial problems — including various owed bills to businesses and individuals from the 2010 season — have been threatening the sustainability of the UFL for several months now. A delayed training camp appears to be the first major casualty from these financial woes.

UFL Access will have updates as they are available.

UPDATE #1, 9:54 P.M.: Players are being told they will be flown back out to camps in 30 days and that the season will continue.

Update #2, 10:14 P.M. – Training Camp Delay Confirmed: Scott Rochelle, an agent with Kaufmann Sports Management Group, has confirmed to Access that his clients have reported they were notified by the United Football League concerning the camp delay. Players have been told they will indeed be flown back in 30 days for training camp and that the season will not be shortened. One league coach has expressed great confidence that the 30-day plan will work and that season three of the UFL will continue.
