ACCESS Exclusive: Saturday Roundup: Jack Mula and Commissioner Huyghue

Jack Mula, Michael Huyghue, UFL

Thanks to the Patriots organization (the only good thing the organization ever did for me…. I’m a Colts fan) I was able to gain contact information for Jack Mula - former executive with the Patriots and someone who has been mentioned as a GM prospect for the United Football League. Jack, who is a very nice man by the way, was only willing to confirm to Access that he has been in talks with Michael and the United Football League. We can only read this as a good sign in the sense that the UFL has been moving forward with contacting General Manager prospects and the like. This comes on the heels of the news from yesterday that the UFL has reached a deal with Sam Boyd Stadium to host the United Bowl and that they have a contract ready to be signed as soon as the Vegas ownership group comes forward and confirms the agreement.

As ACCESS noted yesterday, Michael Huyghue and others from the UFL are in Indianapolis, Indiana where the National Football League is presently holding its annual combine for the upcoming NFL Draft. Huyghue had previously told ACCESS that the league would have scouts present at the Combine in one form or the other. As we reported last night, Huyghue attended some sort of function in the afternoon, and the UFL later met with agents from 5 - 8 PM last evening. We will do our best to gain details on all of these functions moving forward.

Unfortunately it appears that the March 1 announcement we reported yesterday might be a bit delayed, as Commissioner Huyghue emailed UFLACCESS this morning to say, “Formal announcement in late March.” …. among a few other things. Yesterday, Director of Sam Boyd Stadium, Daren Libonati, informed ACCESS that the official league announcement was slated for that earlier date; it seems that Libonati either misspoke or was fed outdated information.

The Commissioner was originally intended to travel back to Jacksonville this morning or last night but informed ACCESS that he is still in Indianapolis - a sign of what, we can’t be certain.

ACCESS is pleased to note that we are slated to interview Commissioner Huyghue once more later this week to gain more details.
