I sure hope somebody makes a UFL game. if you look at any message board, while EA sports and Madden have always been a quality game, alot of people beg them for minor details they ALWAYS leave out of the game and after many years of waiting for more options in makeing custom teams, not implementing certain rules in the NFL such as returning missed field goals among other things. Instead they don’t listen to the fans and add features like QB vision which alot of people hated. I am all for a UFL game although i probably wouldnt buy the first year of it because i bought the arena football game and was really dissapointed i spent money on it when they came out with the second year version, which was far more improved and included my local AF2 Team =

EA Sports, Video Games, And You (The UFL Fan)

UFL

The following news may seem tangential - or even plain out of place - on a UFL blog, but bear with us. In the last day news broke that monster games publishing outlet Electronic Arts has locked down the NFL video game license for another three years. Originally holding exclusivity over all National Football League titles through 2009, their newly-inked deal now places them as overlords of console football gaming through 2012. Monopoly-haters, lament.

All the same, EA’s power grab over the games industry promotes an interesting opportunity for the United Football League. Sports game publishers such as Midway and 2K Sports have been trying to make a dent in the stranglehold EA holds over the football market via unique takes on the sport such as the age-old Blitz franchise, and 2K Sports’ recent All-Pro offering, which highlights the star NFL players from our bygone eras. Still, these efforts haven’t been enough, and any number of publishers out there may be looking for another alternative.

An alternative football game could use an alternative league, and with EA also owning the rights to Arena Football titles, maybe the folks over at 2K Sports or elsewhere would be mighty, mighty interested in the UFL - especially in light of EA’s 2012 announcement.

2K Sports brought gamers ESPN NFL 2K5 prior to the exclusivity deal, a game I still believe lies at the pinnacle of all football sports games. I personally have my fingers crossed in the hopes they could work similar magic with a UFL title down the road, although I’d be pleased with anyone trying their hand.
