Hi, Is there any criteria for a player to be in this league? Like do they need a college degree?
Educationally speaking I’m not 100% positive, maybe Mr. Hahn can elucidate, but I don’t believe a degree is necessary. However, I have heard that the UFL is only interested in either players coming out of the college football ranks who have made some noise, or any one who has had prior experience within the NFL.
One interesting thought, does this list include CFL free agents? There are quite a few talented players in Canada that might want to play in the states. One name, not sure if he is a free agent, is QB Casey Printers. He was with the KC Chiefs for a couple of years. Really athletic and throws the ball well, He might fit into the UFL if they have exciting offenses.
My understanding is that the UFL will only go after players that are NFL caliber - so take from that what you will. My assumption is that they either have to be draft entries who are considered NFL level prospects or people who have been in NFL camps.
I think there is a lot of young talent playing in the CFL right now. These players were snubbed by the NFL and probably would be a good fit for the UFL.
Could be, Dan. Certainly must be some gems there. We’ll see if the league reconsiders their position. Maybe a little CFL poaching is still in order.
