Report: Jay Gruden to Coach Florida Tuskers

It seems all that Jay Gruden buzz wasn’t a fluke.

Sources are informing BHSN’s (Bright House Sports Network) David Baumann that Jay Gruden will indeed be named head coach of the United Football League’s Florida Tuskers.

During the UFL’s Premiere Season in 2009, Gruden aided the Florida Tuskers during their undefeated regular season run via the post of offensive coordinator under head coach Jim Haslett, whom recently made the jump to the NFL to lead the Washington Redskins’ defense. That season saw a UFL Championship Game appearance by the Tuskers, although the team fell to Jim Fassel’s Las Vegas Locomotives.

Prior to his UFL stint, Jay Gruden both played and coached in the Arena Football League for more than 15 years, quarterbacking the Tampa Bay Storm to four Arena Bowl titles. Gruden also won two championships as head coach of the Orlando Predators before joining brother Jon as offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002-2008.

Today’s report solidifies earlier heavy rumblings here at UFL Access that Gruden would be the new man for the Florida Tuskers’ job. It seems all but a certainty at this point. Access will bring league confirmation as soon as it is available.

    • Good thing that wasn’t an inhouse article or it would have been a bit embarassing.

BHSN corrected it after we posted if you click through.

      • Honestly, I caught that last night as I wrote it up and swore I changed it to Washington Redskins…. I think the edited draft didn’t save correctly before I hit publish. Apologies for any confusion from the error.
