The UFL Workouts Begin

Right now it looks like rain in Orlando, although the United Football League is hoping that the rain disappears. Even with the dark skies around fifty football players have gathered at the Citrus Bowl as they attempt to make the four UFL rosters for this fall.

The players gathered include defensive players Oliver Celestin (Safety) formerly with the Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks and Maurice Crum Jr. formerly of Notre Dame.

Quarterbacking talent also happens to be on hand, including Quinn Gray formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chiefs, Chris Greisen who was on the Cardinals roster for several years before playing for the Georgia Force of Arena Football, Brian Deitz of Arena Football, and Danny Wimprine with Arena and Canadian Football League experience.

Notable Wide Receives include; Reche Caldwell most famously a former New England Patriot,  David Boston of the Canadian Football League, Tampa Bay Bucs, and others, Jason Willis formerly of of the Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, and others, and Travis Taylor , formerly of several NFL teams including the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings.

Other former NFL’ers present include TE Jermaine Wiggins and RB LaBrandon Toefield formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Assuming the rain passes by the UFL will have video from their first workout on ufl-football.com in the coming days.

Update: The rain is over and the workouts are ongoing. Lots of talk on Twitter regarding the workouts. Additional players include: Ahmad Treaudo, Curtis Deloach, Chas Gessner, Jasper Harvey, and Odie Armstrong.

  1. Looks good. But whenever Oliver Celestin went into the game at DB for the Arizona Cardinals the folks in our section always made the same jokes: “MY ‘CELESTIN[E] PROPHECY’ is TOUCH DOWN for the other team.” Sadly it often came true. Here’s hoping he does better in the UFL.

    Current score: 0
