UFLAccess Exclusive: UFL to Begin Play in 2009

Michael Huyghue told UFLAccess via email earlier today that a formal announcement for the United Football League would occur in late March of 2008. We immediately asked him for confirmation of kickoff in 2008. Via email Commissioner Huyghue informed UFLAccess that in late March the league will announce six cities, six owners, and “perhaps Coaches and General Managers” along with a national television deal – and that kickoff will now occur in 2009. He did not mention whether or not the league intends to add more teams in 2009, although that seems likely based off of prior reports. We will ask Huyghue when we speak to him later in the week about whether or not those six teams who will be announced in 2008 will be joined later in the process by more teams as the year and a half before kickoff progresses.

We will have more news on this development as it comes and UFLAccess will be with the UFL along every step of the way leading up to 2009.
