With recent reports out of NFL.com suggesting the Bengals are “very confident” in their ability to retain Mike Zimmer, Jason Reid with The Washington Post believes that Jim Haslett is now the front-runner for the defensive coordinator position with the Washington Redskins, following reports from Comcast Sportsnet that Haslett was at Redskins Park on Monday.
Readers of UFL Access will of course be intensely familiar with Jim Haslett’s achievements with the United Football League’s Florida franchise this year, leading the Tuskers squad to an undefeated regular season before falling to Jim Fassel’s Las Vegas Locomotives in the first UFL Championship Game. This success has seemingly caught the eye of Mike Shanahan, who is believed as wanting to incorporate the 3-4 defense next season, a formation which Haslett has intimate knowledge of following his DC stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1990s.
Is Haslett headed out of the UFL and to the Washington Redskins? We’ll keep our ears to the ground.
