Charles Rogers Possibly Restarting Career in the United Football League

Charles Rogers, the #2 pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, might be launching a redemption tour in the United Football League according to ESPN reporter Jemele Hill. Hill tweeted that “Rogers is headed to the UFL” and that several UFL teams have expressed interest. This is coming hot on the heels of an Outside the Lines report regarding Rogers and his career.

He is widely regarded as a bust despite showing occasional flashes of the talent that had scouts comparing him to Randy Moss when he left Michigan State after winning the 2002 Biletnikoff Award, having 27 receiving touchdowns, and setting a Michigan State record after having 270 receiving yards in a single game.

Rogers started his NFL career off hot with 22 receptions, 243 yards, and 3 touchdowns in his first five games before breaking his collarbone. He was expected to recover but he broke his collarbone again during the 2004 season. After that he continued to struggle with injuries and was suspended for violating the substance abuse policy.

By 2007 he was out of the league, although he tried to come back by trying out for the Kansas City Chiefs. He performed miserably and it was thought that his career was over.

Jemele Hill, however, is reporting that he has straightened his mind out and that he has returned to running a 4.4 40. Apparently he will bring that new mindset and 40 time to the United Football League. When we find out which team UFLAccess.com will let you know!
