Game Day: Florida Tuskers at Las Vegas Locomotives, Championship Game

Florida Tuskers (6-0) travel to Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, home of the inaugural UFL Championship Game. The Tuskers, behind coach Jim Haslett, aim to derail former Super Bowl coach Jim Fassel’s Las Vegas Locomotives (4-2). Winner takes home the Hambrecht Trophy.

In their only two previous meetings in the United Football League’s Premiere Season, the Florida Tuskers proved too great for the Las Vegas Locomotives, goring J.P. Losman and company in an entertaining initial match-up at Sam Boyd Stadium, 29-15. Despite the change of venue to the Sunshine State, the second foray between the two proved to be a nail-biter in what was likely the most competitive game of the UFL’s first season. All the same, the Tuskers emerged triumphant over the Locos, 27-24.

After proving they belong in the talent discussion with the Tuskers after their second bout on October 30th, the Locos have picked up a head of steam, winning their last three straight. Now, on the 27th of November, they look to shake off the Turkey hangover and score their first win against the titans of the UFL – and, conveniently, slip on the league’s first championship rings. The Brooks Bollinger-led Tuskers have another flavor of pride to play for, aiming to hoist the Hambrecht Trophy by capping off the first undefeated season in American professional football since the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins in 1972.
