United Football League Re-brands Website With 2.0 Technology
In an effort to attract the widest audience possible and reach fans through multiple communication channels, the United Football League has re-branded its website, www.ufl-football.com, and integrated popular web 2.0 social networking technologies.
“The objective of our new web design is to be completely interactive and establish a one-stop shop for everything UFL, including League and team information, tickets, text alerts, interactive chats, merchandise, game-day details and so much more,” said Michael Huyghue, UFL Commissioner. “I am very excited about having a personal relationship with our fans through some of the social networking components we are initiating including UFL’s Facebook page and an on-going Twitter stream. The constant flow of information and the revised website will prove invaluable when the League’s “Premiere” season debuts in October.”
Some of the enhanced features of the website include a running Twitter log and sign-ups for text alerts. In an effort to keep the fans, sponsors and media apprised of all the League happenings in the timeliest manner possible, many of the League executives, including their head coaches, will begin using Twitter. Fans can follow the League on Twitter @theUFL and Commissioner Michael Huyghue @UFLCommissioner. A complete listing of Twitter addresses can be found on the League’s website. The UFL has also launched official League pages at Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and Flickr and created direct links to each of these pages from its site.
The UFL, in conjunction with its web designer Lightmaker, has also expanded the League’s website’s multimedia section which now includes a high-definition multifunction media player which features footage of League press conferences in HD, links to TV and radio interviews by League personnel and coaches and a photo gallery.
To further discuss the UFL’s new web initiative and give an update on the League’s “Premiere” season, Commission Huyghue will conduct his third interactive chat on the website in the upcoming weeks
