(Edit – as it seems that the TimRattay twitter account was fake we must cast doubt on the veracity of this emailed statement, even if it came from a personal email account seemingly linked to Rattay. We apologize.)

Tim Rattay made news earlier this week when he tweeted that he was heading to the United Football League. This news comes  ahead of the internal United Football League Draft which is scheduled for today according to sources. In the aftermath of the initial tweet Rattay has emerged as a proponent for the new league, arguing that players who would rather retire than play in a league other than the NFL would actually wish to play in the UFL.

This morning UFLAccess.com had the chance to speak with Mr. Rattay who told us, among other things, that:

I’m very excited about my opportunity in the UFL. I know that the talent level in this league will surprise a lot of people. Athletes who wouldn’t consider Canada and other leagues are coming to the UFL. The talent here is amazing, and I can’t wait to be part of it.

Rattay would represent a very credible quarterback for the league and could represent a great starter for a number of teams.  In the NFL Rattay had a career QB rating of 81.9 and threw for nearly 5,000 yards. He lead the biggest comeback in Buccaneers history and also achieved a landmark by being one of two quarterbacks picked in the 7th round or signed as an Undrafted Free Agent to toss for over 400 yards in a game of all of the quarterbacks drafted since 1995.

(Also, on a side note, several outlets are now reporting that J.P. Losman is leaning towards the UFL and citing us as a source. As those outlets have noted, the current story is that Losman is heavily considering the UFL where he would likely play for Las Vegas.
