UFL Buzz: Expansion and the Championship Game

UFL Buzz. A new look at what United Football League fans are buzzing about on the UFLA forums.

Expansion

The forums are buzzing about expansion following last weeks interview with UFL Commissioner Michael Huyghue who confirmed that two teams will be added in year two, a season which he guaranteed will happen. He also didn’t disagree with our mention of the UFL announcing those expansion teams during Championship Game week, a rumor that has persisted after Huyghue and others gave that date during the offseason.

Los Angeles and Hartford are widely presumed to be the frontrunners based off of comments of league officials, including the news that a Los Angeles ownership group had been identified. Huyghue left the door open for other cities – alluding to the possibility of Los Angeles playing in season three rather than season two.

Salt Lake City is considered a dark horse candidate while markets as varied as Philadelphia and Omaha have also been mentioned. Share your thoughts on expansion on the forum.

Championship Game

Lots of UFLAccess.com posters will be present in Las Vegas for the UFL Championship Game. If you are one of them, let us know. We’d love to have a Championship Game tailgate.

  1. u know wut? heres wut id do:
    - since the redwoods have not found a good home in SF, move them to LA. One prob solved.
    - I don’t think Hartford is a good place, but we’ll see how worthy they r when the Sents play there.
    - With those put aside, here r my 2 expansion cities for UFL 2010:

Oklahoma- a growing market. They love their college ball down there, and now that the NBA has moved in there, their pro sports reputation is beginning to take flight.

Salt Lake City- with a population over 1 million and a few pro markets already there, take the chance.

    Other markets:
    Columbus, OH
    Chicago, IL
    Portland, OR

*any of these cities would be great, but i think they should expand primarily in those cities w/o a NFL team, then work ur way up. Things have gone great in Orlando and Vegas, so keep gettin those NFL-less cities.
