UFLA Game Recap: Tuskers Simply Dominate, Win 29-15

In a game billed as a Championship Game preview only the Florida Tuskers lived up to the hype. The Tuskers defense wreaked havoc on the Locos offense, generating what seemed like a flood of sacks. JP Losman improved his stats in the final minutes but he struggled and scrambled for his life all night.

The Tuskers opened the scoring with a Brooks Bollinger-led touchdown drive that concluded with a touchdown pass to Frank Murphy.

The Locos secondary would struggle for most of the evening, although their defensive line and linebackers looked solid for the most part. Brooks Bollinger opened the game 11 for 11.

At the two minute warning in the first half the Tuskers had already showcased their dominance, as their offense had 226 total yards to the Locos’ 87 yards. Tuskers K Bryant knocked down a 41 yarder to end the half to bring the total to 13-0.

Chas Gessner opened up the scoring in the second half for the Tuskers, making the game 22-0. The Locos secondary was being picked apart and their offense was struggling in front of the 12,060 UFL fans who were in attendance. The Locos offense would yet again struggle but their defense forced a three and out setting up DeDe Dorsey to bring one of the few bright spots for the Locos with a blocked punt.

The Tuskers offense would later add an exclamation point as Taye Biddle would bring the game to 28-0.

Late in the game, with the Tuskers second team in for the most part, the Las Vegas Locos would score two late touchdowns thanks to Sami Parker. The final score of 29-15 doesn’t begin to reflect the dominance the Tuskers exerted from beginning to end.

Jim Fassel showed emotion throughout the game and he was candid at the finish when he concluded, “Our passing game just didn’t connect and I’m not sure why.”

Las Vegas fans, however, did get good news when it was announced that the third home game of the Locos was switched from the Home Depot Center to Las Vegas. According to the UFL the league has identified an owner in Los Angeles for 2010.

  1. Who billed it as a Championship Game preview, exactly? The third of twelve games in a pseudo-season?

There can only be these matchups in the championship game:

    Florida-Las Vegas
    Florida-New York
    Florida-California
    New York-Las Vegas
    New York-California
    Las Vegas-California

By that logic, half of the games in the league are “Championship Game previews.”

Good God, man, you’re so in the tank for this, it’s insane.

    • It was billed by us (Nation Hahn, specifically) in an opinion piece he wrote prior to the game. Most of the fans following the league agreed with this sentiment prior to and following the piece, for two reasons: 1. Because of the shortened season, even an early matchup of two 1-0 teams holds weight… and more importantly 2. It has long been considered that the Tuskers and the Locos had the heaviest amount of talent of the four teams in the league. It has been widely considered by most who follow the league and know the players that the Tuskers and Locos stood above the rest talent wise. That isn’t to say they are a lock for the Championship Game, but if you’ve come to notice, every sport has media outlets that pick preseason favorites. It has nothing to do with “being in the tank for something”.
