Week 5 of the United Football League season saw the league’s most lopsided game to date.
It also set up a critical Week 6 game between Las Vegas and California – one which most likely will decide who will face Florida in the championship game.
LAS VEGAS 41, NEW YORK 10
The good - The Locos were solid in the team categories that aren’t flashy – 7-for-12 on third downs, a plus-1 turnover ratio and forcing five fumbles.
The bad - Despite changing quarterbacks, the Sentinels continued to struggle on offense, scoring just 10 points and gaining just 241 yards of total offense.
The ugly - When your offense is inept, special teams can make the difference. But New York averaged just 12.4 yards per kickoff return and 3.0 yards per punt return, and the Sents’ average drive start was their own 20-yard line.
The bottom line
The New York Sentinels have a chance to be as bad as the 1991 Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks of the old World League of American Football. Ugh.
